The difficulties with finding the perfect gifts for girls who love dinosaurs
We know how difficult it can be to find the perfect gift for girls who love dinosaurs. Too often – still – any dinosaur toys, clothes, games or other goods feature only boys or are definitely aimed at boys, showed only boys on the packaging or were in typical boy colours. There are barely any gender-neutral dinosaur goods, let alone anything in pink or rainbow.
We’ve put together our list of 50+ cool gifts for girls of all ages who love dinosaurs! Many of these are things that Miss M has or things that we have seen when visiting the many dinosaur museums and parks.
Dino-themed books
I just realised how many dinosaur-themed books Miss M already has! Any of these would make great dinosaur gifts for girls.
Miss M loves this book about this dinosaur who wants to learn to dance and causes problem because of her size. Miss M particularly loves it when I use a French accent for the ballet teacher.
With love the simple rhyme of the stories in How to Dinosaurs Say Good Night?, and the looks on the faces of the dinosaurs is just precious.

We’re using Dinosaur Dance! to help Miss M learn to read. She loves the tiny little dinosaur (cha cha cha).
Miss M chose A Dinosaur in my Bathtub as her bedtime story just last night.
This is a delightful tale about Pierre, a dinosaur from France who loves cheese. He lives in the bathtub, for now anyway.
I wonder when there will be a French dinosaur in our bathtub…
While not all dinosaurs are included in this Dictionary of Dinosaurs, we’ve found many in here that we have not found elsewhere (though not every dinosaur ever discovered, as the full title suggests). And the pictures are gorgeous.
We have this Magnificent Book of Dinosaurs and Other Prehistoric Creatures in German. You may have seen Tom Jackson’s other books on animals, reptiles and sea creatures, which follow a similar format.
Miss M loves picking out a couple of dinosaurs a night to learn about AKA bragging about how much she knows about the dinosaurs.
I love the memes and picures that make fun of the fact that the T-Rex’s arms were quite short and no one really knows what they were good for.
Tiny T. Rex and the Impossible Hug is on our wish list – it’s actually one of only two on this list that we don’t have. I know I’m going to like it.
We’ll get it and put it away for a grey day.

The Girl’s Guide to Dinosaurs is one of our current favourites and a recent purchase.
This gorgeous book goes through the alphabet, looking at a dinosaur for each letter. Each time, something serious is said about the dinosaur and then a whimsical question is posed. For example, did the velociraptor like to paint her claws?
Dinosaur jewellery
Miss M loves jewellery; necklaces, earrings and watches make great gifts for girls who love dinosaurs.
Triceratops necklace
This necklace and triceratops pendant is Miss M’s ‘special necklace’ and she loves wearing it and showing everyone the triceratops. Other dinosaurs and finishes are available.
I love this dinosaur fossil necklace, too!
Dinosaur earrings
Miss M does not yet have her ears pierced, but I know she would love some of these T-Rex earrings. They make great dinosaur gifts for girls and are great where the gift has to be sent overseas or packed in a suitcase because you are travelling for Christmas.

Currently, one of Miss M’s favourite accessories is a dinosaur mood ring. Takes me back…

We have a tradition in our family of gifting a watch for someone’s fifth birthday. Miss M didn’t get one for her fifth birthday because she already owns this dinosaur watch.
Dinosaur decor
Fortunately, this is one area where there seems to be many more options as far as gifts for girls who love dinosaurs are concerned.
Dinosaur wallpaper
Miss M would love to have some of this wallpaper on the wall of her room. Who knows, one day, if she changes rooms or we significantly change the decor in her room, we might hang some of this on the wall. You can change up the colours too!
Faux taxidermy
The felt faux T-Rex taxidermy head is so cute and would look great on a young girls room. The Triceratops head in metallic pink or teal would be the perfect gifts for girls who love dinosaurs and who are perhaps a little older (though Miss M would love the metallic pink right now).
Dinosaur bunting
For a cute addition to a younger girl’s room, how about some dinosaur bunting, such as this brontosaurus bunting, or perhaps some stegosaurus? You could even DIY some bunting fairly easily…
Dinosaur wall art
There is numerous great dinosaur-themed wall art that would make great dinosaur gifts for girls. Try this fun and bright poster or this set of prints for a nursery, for example.

IKEA has now gotten into the act and has just released a range of dinosaur-themed decor. While much of it is still geared more towards boys, there is some bedding with pink, green, blue and yellow dinosaurs. Miss M loves hers!

Dinosaur games and toys
There are so many games and toys that make great dinosaur gifts for girls, but for boys too. Here are some of Miss M’s favourites. Bonus points if your gift is educational, too!
Dino bingo
This dino bingo set was a recent acquisition on a trip to the Senckenberg Museum in Frankfurt to see their dinosaurs (post coming soon to our sister site, Mrs Maiasaura). It is Miss M’s new favourite game.
Mudpuppy dinosaur products
We have a number of products by New York-based company, Mudpuppy. Their travel puzzles fit well in carry-on luggage (though we managed to lose a piece, so you might want to put it on the list of things not to pack in your carry-on). They are also great for road trips, as is this fun magnetic design set.
Their magnetic racing game is also very useful for road trips – or anytime really. Especially if you have a child who tends to get excited when they are winning and accidentally bump the board…
We also have one of their larger glow-in-the-dark puzzles, also a favourite.
Their dinosaur snap set is great: you not only match the images of dinosaurs, but you also match the images of dinosaurs with images of their fossils. Unfortunately, it does not seem to be readily available anymore.
This colouring roll is on our list of things to get for Miss M at some stage – perhaps when we have another long road trip planned.
Dominoes and memory
On a trip to the Museum for Naturkunde in Berlin, we found this wonderful dinosaur domino set. We’ve made the rules a bit stricter over time, but it is still a favourite.
This memory game is similar. Alternatively, you can try this set which has 3 games in 1. It’s great for travelling.
Dino tail
I’ve seen people use these dinosaur tails for birthday parties. If you’re handy with a sewing machine and have time, they could work well. However, for me, they are a bit expensive for a party favour. However, as a gift, they are great and Miss M loves racing around with hers on – and jumping on the trampoline!
Dino Field guide
As I’ve mentioned before on this blog, Miss M is a big Dino Dana fan. She loves going out in the garden to do dinosaur experiments, just like Dana. To encourage this (because who doesn’t want their child playing voluntarily in the garden?), we’ve started putting together a kit to help her do her dinosaur experiments.
This kit includes:
- A backpack, such as this one for younger girls, or this one for older girls (also doubles as a book bag)
- A magnifying glass
- Binoculars
- A torch – Miss M has this one that also projects pictures of dinosaurs onto the wall
- Walkie talkies – so she can let us know when she has spotted a dinosaur that is heading our way or about to each Oma’s flowers
- Some small dinosaurs – a herbivore, a carnivore and an omnivore, such as the ones in this set.
- A sketchbook/notebook and pencil or pen. Miss M has one that is like this unicorn one, without the unicorn, which we got at the Natural History Museum in London.
- A compass: if you get this set, you can get your binoculars, magnifying glass and compass altogether.
- Her camera.
The dinosaur field guide would also be a great dinosaur gift for girls who love dinosaurs and Dino Dana in particular.
Palaeontologist’s outfit
We might get Miss M a palaeontologist’s outfit for next Carnival (providing we are able to celebrate it). It is a little difficult to find one that is not a zookeeper outfit or just a safari outfit, but this archaeologist outfit comes close.
Palaeontologist Barbie
This Palaeontologist Barbie actually what Miss M asked for two Christmases ago. She was very specific. And she loves it.
Colouring books
I have lost count of how many dinosaur-themed colouring books Miss M has. They are always a hit.
This dinosaur colouring book has images and facts to share.
Soon we’ll also be moving on to ‘how to draw’ dinosaurs books.
Sticker books
Miss M loves making prehistoric scenes, sticking dinosaur stickers into the backdrops in sticker books such as this one. I can imagine that this one with reusable stickers would be good for road trips.
Slowly, she is moving onto activity books, but still needs someone to help read the instructions.
She is also getting old enough to try painting with stickers – dinosaur style of course!
Vet set
This next one inspired one of Miss M’s carnival costumes this year, but I have been unable to track one down online. Basically, it is a toy vet set, with animal carrier, stethoscope, syringe, etc., like this set, but with a dinosaur instead of a Dalmatian. If you find one, please let me know!
Schleich dinosaurs
We are slowly adding to Miss M’s collection of dinosaurs and prefer these anatomically correct dinos from Schleich because they have the common and some not-so-common dinosaurs available, such as the Dracorex. Miss M’s current favourite is Brachiosaurus.
Playmobil
Miss M just got some Playmobil dinosaurs for her zoo. What? Your zoo does not have dinosaurs?
Lego has some too – I love this fossil set!
Ikea animals
IKEA has also added stuffed dinosaurs to its recent dinosaur line. Miss M fell in love with and had to have the stegosaurus and the allosaurus.
Dinosaur eggs
While they can make a bit of mess, Miss M loves cracking open and chipping away at these dinosaur eggs. They make great non-candy Easter gifts too!
Dinosaur puppet
Another fun gift for girls who love dinosaurs – or boys who love dinosaurs – is a dinosaur puppet. Some of them are quite realistic! Miss M loves trying to scare us with hers.
Miscellaneous dinosaur gifts for girls who love dinosaurs
There are numerous dinosaur gifts for girls who love dinosaurs that do not fit into any of the categories above. They still make great gifts!
Cookie cutters
Are you looking for gifts for girls who love dinosaurs, but also love baking? Why not get a gift that serves both interests? Miss M loves making butter cookies using these dinosaur cookie cutters.
Of course, if you are encouraging your little dinosaur lover to bake, you might like to get them a dinosaur apron.
Dinosaur drink bottle, etc.
Mealtimes can be dinosaur-themed, too. Try this dinner set, for example. Admittedly, many such sets are aimed more towards boys.
Dinosaurs can also travel with your child. The backpack is perfect for day trips, and this drink bottle is a great dinosaur gift for girls who love dinosaurs, too!

Tiptoi
These Tiptoi pens are very popular in Germany. There are not really toys, but educational tools as kids use them to learn about sounds, shapes, animals, processes, etc, hear stories and answer questions.
To use them, you need a basic set with the interactive pen. You then buy books or sets on specific topics, such as this one about dinosaurs.
At the moment, most things are only available in German, which is great if you are looking for cool dinosaur gifts for girls who love dinosaurs and raising your child to be bilingual with German!
Toniebox
Another great German invention – that is just being rolled out in the UK and the US – is the Toniebox. It is very intuitive and easy for kids to use. It is a great tool for any family who is raising their child to speak German.
Basically, you buy a Toniebox and then buy figures (Tonies) that are simply placed on top to play the music, stories, etc. Some are pre-recorded and some are blank so that you can record whatever you like on them. Miss M has a number of dinosaur-themed “Tonies”, including Heavysaurus and a dinosaur knowledge Tonie (not yet available in the US, though Zog the dragon is).
Amazon Prime Video
Dino Dana is a great role model for little girls who love dinosaurs. She does ‘scientific experiments’ to learn about dinosaurs and learns about life too in her patchwork family. Miss M loves it!
